Having a birth plan is a great idea!

It’s your birth, your baby and your forever memory which makes it important for you to have your wants and needs met, having a plan can help you to feel and be in control on how you birth your baby and help things run much more smoothly when you go into labour.

A birth plan is a set of instructions you make about your baby’s birth.  It tells your health care provider how you feel about things,  who you want with you during labour, what you want to do during labour, if you want a natural water birth, epidural, delayed cord clamping, changes made to your environment to help you relax and if there are special religious or cultural practices you want to have happen once your baby is born.

I like to call birth plans, birth preferences as things can change though pregnancy/birth and this can prevent mothers feeling disappointed if the plan doesn’t go accordingly.
